The Coalition for Human-Centered AI in Education
At LEAP Innovations, we’re equipping education leaders and teachers with the skills to use AI responsibly, ensuring it enhances—not replaces—personalized learning for all students. LEAP’s AI in Education programming provides research-based professional learning that blends high-touch support with hands-on exploration, ensuring educators can effectively implement AI-powered solutions in their classrooms.
COALITION FOR HUMAN-CENTERED AI IN EDUCATION
LEAP convenes practitioners from across the education ecosystem including teachers, school and district leaders, researchers, edtech partners, and higher ed programs to form a coalition focused on the real-world, human-centered applications of AI in our educational institutions. Together, we are considering how to meaningfully integrate AI into education.
The goal of the Coalition is to:
Explore, examine, and design the future of learning with AI
Build, prototype, and get feedback on compelling AI solutions with educators, students, and leaders across the region
Develop use cases and identify best practice approaches to AI in education
Develop a collaborative, cross-sector community of education innovators
By bringing together diverse perspectives and cultivating space for exploration and learning, the Coalition will develop resources and build knowledge to support the responsible adoption and scaling of AI in education.
The Coalition convenes in-person quarterly.
Convening Opportunities Include:
• Innovation Spotlights
Spotlights provide opportunities for members to share examples of how they are approaching artificial intelligence. Spotlights are designed to surface insights, spark connections, and inspire new ideas for the practical, human-centered application of AI to enhance teaching and learning. Innovation Spotlights have come from Google for Education, Naperville Community Unit School District 203, the Archdiocese of Chicago, Chicago Public Schools, Lockport Township High School, Microsoft, CICS Bucktown, and National Louis University.
• Innovation Forums
Agenda-free discussions that explore key topics in human-centered artificial intelligence. Forums develop actionable recommendations that support AI integration and showcase innovative use cases and best practices that support personalized learning and enhance student outcomes.
• Learning and Building AI
Interactive learning opportunities engage members to explore and build generative AI tools that address use cases specific to members’ context, while developing prompting skills and AI literacy.
